Private House, Riaño Cantabria

The concept for this family house in Riaño Cantabria, half an hour from the capital Santander is to create a building that maximizes the potential of interaction between the landscape and the house through the study of the perimeter and the contact with the ground. The plot of irregular shape in plans and levels is oriented towards the west where open views to the valley, so the house is situated in the highest part of the plot where you can have a larger domain. The volume aims to be inclusive of local rural architecture although at the same time it wants to have its own identity. By planning regulations, the house should have inclined roof and respect construction standards in materials of facades to maintain harmony with local structures. The layout allows the house to define different areas outside, including a terrace-platform with a swimming pool, as well as different outputs from the indoor to outdoor garden areas. The composition consists of three wings that allow to define the program inside both at low level and the first floor. The design is marked by symbolism, since it brings together three generations of the same family.
